By 1985,
founder Patrick Heaney ultimately grew his original idea into a successful $300M trucking and warehousing company called H&M International Transportation. Along the way he partnered with container shipping firm APL. The drayage and deconsolidation businesses were doing so well, he was asked to open a consolidation company in Asia. American Consolidation Services (ACS) was born. By the mid 1990s, he merged the business with a highly successful air freight forwarding company owned by Philip Liu, who became the Managing Director of Asia, with Patrick serving as CEO of the newly formed RCS Logistics. In 2004, Brian Heaney was promoted to President of RCS.
By owning and operating our own Charters out of Hong Kong and Shanghai, RCS was perfecting Speed-to-Market for retail before there was even a buzzword for it!
Beyond Hong Kong and China, soon offices were opening in New York and Los Angeles, before growing into Chicago, Miami, and Columbus. The footprint in Asia continued to expand with Vietnam, Sri Lanka, India, Cambodia, Jakarta, Bangladesh, and Indonesia. Europe was next with offices opening in Amsterdam and the United Kingdom. The most recent office opened in Turkey, and it joins affiliate locations in more than 80 countries worldwide.
Today, RCS is one of the world’s leading independent logistics service providers, providing end-to-end design, implementation, and operational capabilities in global sea, air and truck transportation, contract logistics, and customized distribution management.
